Channyn Lynne Parker
August storyteller Channyn Lynne Parker is the Chief Executive Officer of Equality Illinois, the first Black transgender woman to lead the organization in its 34-year history. Before that, she built and led Brave Space Alliance, the first Black-led, trans-led LGBTQ+ center on Chicago’s South Side. She is a Chicago LGBT Hall of Fame inductee and an OUT100 honoree who calls herself a holy disruptor. She believes joy is a form of resistance and that her identity is not a burden but a beacon. A proud South Sider, she is happiest when she is telling the truth out loud. Hear Channyn’s story Tuesday, August 4, at OUTspoken at Sidetrack. Seating from 6pm, stories 7-9pm
