Jim Johnson
In a land far, far away called DuPage County August storyteller Jim Johnson is a husband of over twenty years and father to two queer young adults. He and his wife have run a successful home daycare for over two decades. He works part-time for Youth Outlook, the longest running social service agency dedicated to serving LGBTQ+ youth. And he volunteers with Equality Downers Grove, running Out & About the social component of their organization. Through Out & About he plans and organizes monthly meetups in and around the Downers Grove area for adults in the LGBTQ+ community. In June he attended his first ever Chicago Pride Parade walking with The Bisexual Queer Alliance of Chicago and he loved it! He is hoping to help give today’s LGBTQ+ youth the education and opportunities he never had; as well as change society’s narrative and create an inclusive world for all. Hear Jim’s story Tuesday, August 5, at OUTspoken at Sidetrack – seating from 6pm, stories 7-9pm.
