August storyteller Nancy Mullen is the executive director of Youth Outlook, the not-for-profit organization serving LGBTQ youth in IL. Now in her 28th year with Youth Outlook, she’s been around long enough to see the Ellen Coming Out Episode, a plague people couldn’t mention, a recession that sent donors scurrying for high ground, a second plague, a failed coup and a congenial president who occasionally fell over like a fainting goat. Nancy published her first book, Urban Tidepool, in 2020 during the writing of which she also occasionally fell over like a fainting goat which she hopes won’t happen again tonight!
